3 idiots

Today is the last day of the three day long Christmas weekend. Yesterday I went to the new 'Bangalore Central' mall in Jayanagar, it is quite a mall, really nice. Today we had gone for the movie '3 idiots' @ INOX Garuda.

The reviews were good in the papers and the verbal feedback from those who had seen it was also very good, we had high expectations from it and it certainly did not disappoint.

Aamir Khan as always has delivered another masterpiece with a clear message as well as lots of fun for the audience. The movie is about how Aamir and his two friends do their Engineering in Imperial College of Engineering.

Aamir plays a brilliant innovator in the movie, someone who just does not mugs up for exams, he is someone who challenges the book, looks for excellence and not success. He says aim for excellence and success will follow automatically.

I liked the movie specially for this message, how Indian education currently focuses on marks and applies lot of pressure on students, rather than encouraging the students to think and understand the concepts. I myself being an engineer agree with the faulty education system.

The movie showcases the prodigy of an engineering student, how he can invent things from unthinkable materials and who later ends up with 400 patents under his name, also becoming a world renowned scientist.

This is something very close to my heart, this movie was something that made me realize that if you are hungry for knowledge than you can reach great heights, and inspires me to work harder and continue to gain knowledge. Also this reminds me of something that dad always tells me, "There is no age limit for learning",  you should have quest for knowledge and the curiosity to learn.

Only time will tell...

Merry Christmas 2009

Today is 25th December. There is a festival season big time wherever you go, especially in malls. Lots of lighting and decoration, everyone is happy and enjoying the festival.

It has been a very good Christmas for me. Our TL Ganesh came back from US and got lotta chocolates for us, Hersheys, snickers, twister, etc all were very tasty and yummy. We also had plum cake for two days in office. Basically, I have been on an eating spree!

Today being a holiday I got up at 1330 :)  boy it feels so good when you get up late.  However, the day passes away very quickly. Today by the time I got ready , had lunch and all and started to read newspaper it was already 5pm. I didnt even feel like reading , wanted to get out and enjoy Christmas.

Went to my good buddy stud paaji, we made a plan and got ready. We went first to Oasis mall, where we were doing the usual for half an hour. The usual means checking out all the cosy sofas and beds...

After that Saba and her friend joined us and we went to Rendezvous. It is a very nice place to hang out, the ambiance is very nice. Today being Christmas, it was well decorated and was looking very good. The food there is also very good. I had french fried with mayonnaise cheese, pasta, pepsi and peas fry. We had very good time there.
Merry Christmas to all...

Today is 12th December, the highlight of the day was Yuvraj Singh, today being his birthday, he helped India beat Sri Lanka in the T20 game and help square the series. Definetly a birthday  to remember.

Settled in Bangalore

It's more than a month now, I am pretty much settled and living happily in Bangalore. I am very happy I am in a project, I also had my first video conference yesterday with client. Project is going good and I hope I move up with time.

Sehwag just smashed 290 odd against srilanka, missed a triple by a small margin, if he would have got it, it would have been a record of highest no of triple centuries, surpassing the greats like Don Bradman.

My house here is really good, I had mentioned about all the luxuries and facilities I have. I would like to ad a few lines on my room mates today.

First meet bade paaji, Niraj , the head of the house, he is getting married next year. He is a very nice person and manages everything and keeps everyone happy. Then meet stud paaji aka Amit, he is a TL in infy, he is looking to switch companies, he is a very practical guy and hence I believe the reason why he has succeded so much in his carrier and the only way for him is up.

Meet my favorite kake, Jasjeet, a techie who enjoys life, he is very good person at heart. He is someone who anyone will cherish being in company with , both as a friend and as a professional. Meet CFA Amit, the latest entrant in the house, he has mixed up with everyone so easily and added to our happiness. I really like his application in giving a helping hand in the house and he calls everyone with lots of respect, also good to know he is from Mumbai.

Meet Rahul , my roommate, he is in Wipro. He is a very friendly person, I am really impressed by his communication skills and today he got a free shave and a free gilette mach 3 from garuda..:P. He is the kind of person any girl would be lucky to have in her life. We also had Pavneet paaji with us, who is in UK now, he also is a very nice person, he is a very friendly person and respects everyone.

Well someday I will look back at this post and remember, the wonderful parties we had in the terrace like we had today, the wonderful time we had playing all childhood games, me and jassi going to forum maintaning the assi counter, my first birthday in bangalore, and lot more to come...

The Evolution of Computers and Internet

2001. Eight years back, i had given my tenth standard board exams. After that I started going to Ganpati stores in Vile Parle. I created my first email account, vyaskartik2001@yahoo.com. Since then I have been using vyaskartik2001 everywhere...2001 was the year my rendezvous with the internet started.

I used to go a lot to Ganpati stores, used to chat a lot...it was a craze then. Every Sunday after giving exams in my coaching classes would go straight to Ganpati stores. I also remember once I was there till around 11pm, mom had come to take me. Dad also had come couple of times from office to take me home with me.

After 12th I got a PC for myself at home. It was great feeling....my first PC...year 2003.I used dat Intel Pentium 4 for four years and in Nov 2007 I bought this Laptop from which I am writing this post. I remember having a 56k dial up modem at home to access internet and how it was almost impossible to view videos online and now I am sitting in my bedroom using wifi and 1Mbps speed internet to see videos instantly on youtube.

Back then in 2001, Internet was mainly used for email, browsing and chatting. Microsoft was the dominant company in all respects. Slowly with time Google has come up by leaps and bounds. They have the no 1 search engine in the world, Google word has become synonymous with searching on the internet.

Google also have the best email service in the world, gmail. A social networking website orkut which comes only second to facebook. Google has ample other application like Google maps, Google books, Google images, Google groups, offcourse blogger in which I am blogging rite now is also a Google product, you can also store photos online with Picasa again from google and how can u forget You Tube!!! again it belongs to google.

Google is the present and google is the future.Recently Windows launched Windows 7, desktop based operating system. There was not much fuss about it. Google has launched its own operating system based on its browser, Google chrome OS, its just awesome, everything on the cloud. The future of computing...

Also google launched Google wave...a online real time interaction application. You can chat, share documents, conduct polls, collaborate and work together online and much more. It is still in preview mode and is expected to get better.

Google also have Android OS, an open source operating system for mobile phones and it is giving a good run for their money to Apple iPhone. Google is just looking to dominate each and every perspective of our digital life.

I hope after 10 years or so when I come back to read this post...Google will be the dominant company in the world...I will remember me sitting in my bedroom in Bangalore writing this post while eating maggie...(@bhakti cook does not come sunday eve..:P)

Delhi 6

It's 11:46 in the night. I just saw the movie Delhi 6. I had seen some part of it before. When it got released, I was in Mysore, had my compre exams, so had missed it. I like the movie despite the fact it was not a hit.

The movie shows the various colors of India, it shows Hindu muslim fights. It shows how a girl in India fears her father and has to marry a guy of his choice. The movie shows how the cops in India think they are the kings.

The movie is about Roshan (Abhishek's) grandmother who wants to take her last breath in India, so Abhishek brings her to India. The movie potrays the time of Dasera and exhibits a stage show of Ramayana as well..

The movie shows how despite the million problems we have, problems of water, problems of traffic jam, problems of riots, etc, we still love our country. We feel we belong here.

Also the movie revolves around the black monkey phenomenon and there is the love story of Abhishek and Sonam Kapoor who by the way looks absolutely stunning in the movie. Music is ominous and very pleasing...no guesses here, it's the legend A.R. Rehman. Also one needs to mention of the good performance by Abhishek Bachan.

Well I have to sleep late as I will be having shifts from Monday...my first project...:). Now am gonna watch Paranormal Activity.

20 years of Sachin Tendulkar

Today all the news channels were showing Sachin Tendulkar's innings in Sharjah, when he helped India reach Sharjah Cup final and eventually win the final. It was 1998.

I remember that innings very well. Those were days when India team was kind of dependent on Sachin to win matches, especially against tough teams like Australia. We did'nt have as many match winners then.

Sachin Tendulkar, referred by millions as the God of cricket, probably the greatest cricketer ever and the most legendary sports person produced by India. He finished 20 years in the game today.

I also remember me in school, cutting pictures of Sachin Tendulkar, from Times of India, I still have and I treasure those pictures. He was everyone's childhood hero.

There are many articles all over the net and newspapers describing the genius and prasing the master. One of the article by Peter Roebuck says "Tendulkar has gone two decades
being a blend of the sublime and the precise, incapable of ugliness or of being dull; and those are among the least of his achievements"

Posting from Banglore

It was not more than 10 days back I was really really hoping that I get to come to Banglore. I wanted to get into this project somehow.

Right now I am sitting in the verandah of my 3BHK duplex in Kormangla,Banglore, using wifi to write this post. We have a really big house and we also have maid and cook. Cook makes wonderful food.

My new room mates are all very nice..working in Wipro and Infosys, all have around 5 years of experience and I hope to learn something from them.

Offcourse I do miss my Hyderabad house and room mates, all the fun we had and the wonderful time we spent.

My project is a bit delayed so we are a bit relaxed for some 10 more days, after which the grueling time will begin, once we get settled into the project it will be fine.

I really love the Banglore weather, it is very pleasant and a bit cold. They say the weather is similar all year round, I feel like I am in Europe or something...;)

Well I guess some dreams do come true...and sometimes you get more than what you expect...I never imagined I would live such a luxurious lifestyle.

ONE YEAR AT INFOSYS

I have written previously about, me completing one month...i remember writing that from Mysore..when I read it I can feel the excitement I had of being an Infoscion. I wrote about six months from Banglore Airport...now I am in Hyderbad where I got my posting.

I am attending WebsphereMQ training, I am here since 5 months or so...did a lot of internal training..learnt a lot..I hope I get some project now. There is this project coming in Banglore...Level 2 administration of MQ...I have my fingers crossed and striving my best to get there.

Apart from that...I experienced some illness in hyderabad...I got corn in my feet...recently I twisted and locked my neck in sleep...crazy things happened to me..I am fine now and looking forward to the Project phase of my career.

I joined many networking sites: LinkedIn, facebook and Twitter. I read the story of Digg.com and got inspired to do something...hopefully with experience and knowledge I may be able to come up with some idea for an online startup.

I made many many friends in Infosys, now we are all in different DC's, still in touch though. Some people have got very good opportunities in project, where as some like me have been slogging with bench code in hyderabad. Anyway I believe, there is a reason behind everything in life and one should be patient.

Well I hope when I write my next post, I will be in some project and learning many new things.

Living life the 80/20 way.

It's a name of a book by Robert Koch. I started reading self improvement books since quite a while now, and the best one is the one mentioned above.

It is based on a scientifically proven fact, it is a very practical book and I have learnt a lot from this book. It says that 80% of happiness and results in life come from 20% of efforts. We need to think about our happy times, what was so different than and try to do that more often.

We should spent more time with people we care about, we should try to achieve more with less and not more with more, which is what everybody looks for.

There are many ways of doing things, we should choose the option which will require minimum effort and will fetch us maximum result. We need to train our mind to think in this way, always look out for options and choose the best option.

Well that's some things which I read in the book, it is a very good read and I would recommend everyone to check out the book. One last thing that I would like to mention that the book says is: "We should earn to live and not live to earn".

Well apart from the book, I am having the time of my life right now, I am spending more time learning and enjoying playing sports and less time wasting on TV and on things which are not important to me or which will not make me happy.

I went for the movie "Hangover" yesterday, it was an awesome movie, I went with my room mates, we went to PVR, very nice cinema and tickets were only 100 bucks for night show, I remember giving 175 in PVR mumbai for an evening show.

Everything else is fine, our project went well and everybody is impressed by our work. I also learnt a lot from the experience and am now looking to build Competency in few technologies.

TRANSFORMATION

Yesterday I was talking to dad and I recalled an incident, once we had gone to Shoppers STop and I saw everything there was so damn expensive, I asked him if anyone would at all be buying all these branded and expensive stuff.

I went shopping yesterday and I bought the following things: 1 Reebok sweat shirt worth 800bucks, 1 Woodland Formal shoes worth 1800 bucks and one Formal Shirt from Shoppers Stop worth 1G.

The point is now that I am earning well and working in a good company, I myself buy only branded stuff. I got the answer to the Q I asked my dad longed back at shoppers stop, I got the answer when I myself did shopping at shoppers stop.

Well apart from that, my first project at Infosys got over, it was a very nice experience, our PM is very nice and friendly, I consider myself lucky to have worked with him in my first project at Infosys.

I am in Hyderabad and in my first free weekend yesterday, me and my friends went to shopoping yesterday to abids and GVK one, where I bought the above mentioned products.

I opened an account this week in LinkedIn. this is my home page in LinkedIn:

Everything else is fine,I am enjoyin in hyderabad...

TIBCO

Well eventually my training got over at Mysore and I got posting in hyderabad. Hyderabad being a tier 1 city I am having a good time here. Also the fact that there is a chance I may get a project, I am happy.

Currently I am undergoing 4 days vigorous training in TIBCO.It is a middleware software and something new and exciting..I am having a good time in Hyderabad. Also I will be moving out of the campus this Sunday to stay outside as accomodation is available only till then. The most important thing is I HAVE A BLACK TAG, I look at it all the time and feel happy.

Whether I will get a project on TIBCO or not, time will tell, but one thing is for sure, the hard part has just started, life in production is lot different than training,u have a manager, I have a very bad one. We have to work 12 hours, 6 days a week and not only work, give output as well..

April 2009 was very bad for me, I lost my elder brother Vaibhav, in an accident, but no one can do anything against God's will. We were very close to each other and no one can replace him. I will always remember him and all the wonderful times we spent together.

Six months at Infosys

I am back, after a long time. Again at Banglore airport. I have finished almost six months at Infosys Mysore in training.

There has been lots of ups and downs but I have enjoyed it all the way.I had flunked in my stream compre and had to give recompre. If I would have flunked in REcompre I would have been out, but thanks to elders blessings and God's grace it went well and I cleared it comfortably.

My dear sister Truptiben had a beautiful baby girl, they named her Annika, I am very happy for them and wish Truptiben and Rakeshbhai a very happy life.

Wht else IPL 2 is going on, last time champions Rajasthan Royals are in bottom half of the table, thanks to absence of PAkistan players and shane watson.

I so around 25 movies till now in Infosys multiplex, recently I saw Fast and Furious 4, awesome movie, I saw it twice, really loved all the stunts and action.

Now my extended training is going on at infosys, we do not have exit policy now so everyone is relaxed. We had our Integrated project evaluation yesterday, we scored 88%, a comfortable A.

Wht else I am happy to go home after 4 months, have lots of good food, meet family, do some shopping, watch IPL and have fun.
