India white wash the Lankans 5-0

To start with I am blogging about cricket after long time. I did not get much time recently to watch or follow sports, I do not have a TV at home since almost 3 years anyways, that is intentionally to make sure I do not sit in front of it all day. However, I do go to malls or friends place sometimes to catch any important sports events.

India just white washed the Lankans 5-0 at home in the ODI series. What happened prior to it was West Indies cut down their tour to India and left midway due to some issues with their cricket board. The Lanakans were called in, and as always they did not disappoint. New records were created, and all the Indian batsman struck golden form, just in time for the tour of Australia and the world cup henceforth.

Dhoni did not play this series, he was rested, Kohli led the team, and he lead the team in style. Not only did he himself continued his good form, but the whole team played woderfully well. All the batsmen chipped in, the highlight of the series undoubtedly was Rohit Sharma's record breaking 264 run innings, he beat Sri Lanka by 13 runs in that match.

The bowlers all did their part. India look to have found good combination with regards to bowling when they go down under. Also Kohli has matured to be a good captain, chances are Dhoni may retire after the world cup down under, India is covered in that department I belive. My only concern is the batting down under, there is not a definite that the batsmen will perform as well away as they do at home, let's keep our fingers crossed!!

The Table Tennis Diary

Since long time I wanted to write this down. Finally I am doing it. Again it is coming at 3AM, another 3AM post. May be I should make a label for it...hehe. This time I was playing table tennis till this time.

It all started in school 7th grade. We had a table tennis tournament going on. I was not even included in it, don't know why, but I stayed and watched the game. I had a liking for it since then. After I watched a couple of games, they gave me kinda wild card entry and I played a game. Somehow I won it, I played 2 more and I won them too. Eventually I was the champion, against everyone's expectations, a boy who was not even considered good enough to play in the tournament had won the tournament. Rising and triumphing against all odds has occurred more than once in my life. Getting on campus placement in Infosys was also the same, and many such instances.

After that victory I got a table tennis bat upgrade. Earlier I had a very simple bat worth 45 bucks. After I won, dad bought me an expensive Belbot bat. It was a wonderful bat, and I used it all the way till my Infy days.

I remember how my game was then, I always had a very defensive game. When I won the tournament in 7th grade, my only focus and complete energy was to just receive the ball and hit back, no fancy chops or smashes, just keep it simple, and be patient. Even now I can say, I have that quality, and I have developed a few more. I do not want to boast myself, but now I have a very wide range of shots, my biggest strength is still in defense, I can return smashes, most of the time when it is unexpected by the opponent.  Also hitting smashes as a surprise element works well for me. However the thing which I believe works the most is the thinking part of the game.

I think and strategies a lot when I play. A lot of thought goes into my each service,  especially when playing doubles. I try to win maximum point in my serve, studying the opponent position, his style of play and the previous serve done, I make sure I put in the best serve. Also another thing I have become good at is placing the ball, it helps a lot when returning serves in doubles.

To be frank I do not have a very good and frequent smash game, but I have a lot of other things to compensate for it. I can proudly say I can hold my own, and have done that against every player I have played till now. I have lost, I have learned, but I have fought, and I have persisted.

Another good quality I have developed is smart usage of table tennis bats. There are various types of bats, some heavy, some light, each with it's pros and cons. I use appropriate bat as per situation and opponent. Even today, after office when I went to play table tennis with my good friend Akshath I was using a heavy bat.   Then another player came, I was not doing well against him, I realized the reason and immediately switched to lighter bat. I could not save that game due to high lag, but I did win the next 2. He is a pretty good player, and I can proudly count that as another accomplishment in my table tennis career.

Untitiled Part 5 - Mr. K and The 7 Dimensions

Untitiled Part 5

In the previous part, there is the supposition of the alteration of singularity. Mr. K went much beyond altering of singularity. This particular affair is about dimensions, and it directly interconnected to singularity.
Human beings are constrained to 4 dimensions of space-time. The 3 dimensions of space are always fixed along the 3 planar axis, the variable is time. When Mr. K traversed back in time, he exalted into the 5 dimensional paradigm. 5 dimensional paradigm has traversing along the 4 dimensions of space and time, and the constant is gravity.

Gravity is even constant in the 4 dimensional paradigm. However it is even more important in 5 dimensional universe as time becomes traversal. A lot of knowledge about quantum mechanics, singularity and relativity was joint across time for the survival and evolution of the human species. That was the time when humans reached the level and advancement of the Primes with regards to technological evolution. Remember the time when Mr. K met Optimus, humans had started travelling across wormholes, and across galaxies.

The limits of the human mind are constrained by the limits of its imagination. Mr. K was not going to be satisfied with 5 dimensions. He wanted more, he thought till the extent of 7 dimensions. Not many, not even the primes had reached even the 6 dimensions.

In 5 dimensions, one can walk forward and backwards in time like walking up and down a cliff. However one is still influenced by gravity. In 6 dimensional paradigm one can even control gravity. That is along with space and time, even gravity can be traversed. It may sound completely unreasonable and illogical, but as Mr. K always says: Humans are a very primitive species, they have a lot to learn. The 6th dimensions here is light. It is in the 6 dimensional paradigm where the concepts of hooks and hangers arise into picture.

Finally the 7 dimensional paradigm. In the 7 dimensional paradigm, one can control light. What is light? Light at atomic and subatomic level and at eventual disintegration is a form of energy. So imagine the superiority of a being when one can control energy, it’s really unthinkable and unimaginable. The seventh dimension is numbers here. Everything is the universe, and whatever is above and beyond the universe can be explicitly defined and expressed in terms of numbers.

Maths is much more than what humans know till now. The more humans evolve and explore multiple dimensions, the more they will learn about numbers, and they will keep evolving through Maths, and eventually figure out, that may be numbers indeed is the ultimate dimension…

Anupam Kher & Irrfan Khan - Unsung Bollywood Legends

There are 2 types of stars in any film industry. In Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan are very very popular. Their films and their style of acting is very commercial, it is entertaining too and they earn crores and crores of rupees. Then there are actors like Anupam Kher, Irrfan Khan and Boman Irani.

The more you think about them, the more you look back at the movies and the roles they have done, you realize that they are legends in their own rights too. They are not super popular or super rich stars, but they are fabulous actors. They have performed all their roles so magnificently, that you forget that they are stars, and you see them purely as their characters in the film. Contrasting that with the Khans, they are always stars and very very rarely we actually see them as the characters in the film.

Anupam Kher is an old timer, and has done lots and lots of films. I remember him right from Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Wednesday, DDLJ, etc. He was never the hero and rarely did he have the primary role in his movies, but whatever role he had, he performed magnificently. He has done huge number of films, and won many awards too, here's his wiki page.

Lets talk about Irrfan. This guy is comparatively new, but whatever roles he has done have been jaw dropping. Consider the latest film Haider. The film is a big bore in the first half, and then Irrfan comes, all different story after that. Also was watching 'The Amazing Spiderman' yesterday, and he has played a wonderful role there too, proves he is an internationally acclaimed actor. Here's his wiki page.

Just to prove why I wrote about them, in their wiki page you would find, both are Padma Shri award winners!! Kudos!!!

India Truly Shinning this time!!

Normally I abstain from political/religious comments or posts. I am a techie, a traveler, a sports buff and a non humble freakin genius! However I am highly impressed by the work done by the new BJP government, and based on all the changes I see in the country, the changes I see in the way of thinking, the change in how we Indians see ourselves and are ready to compete and dominate at world level in terms of intellect, innovation and business, makes me feel really proud and happy.

India had a lot of hope from Narendra Modi. BJP got unprecedented majority, and they formed the government. The numbers were so one sided, that there were not enough seats to form a single party opposition! However, Modi did not stop after taking the hot seat. No doubt he is an outstanding orator, but he is also a man of his words. He is a man of passion who wants to really make India shine. He is from humble backgrounds, and has worked his way up to the top. He knows the problems of people, he has lived their lives. He is a common man too after all!

The wonders he has done to Gujarat, one can only imagine what lies ahead for our great country. I don't know about others, but I myself have changed my thinking. I was earlier planning to settle in Europe, but now I feel a lot more patriotic. I want to live in my country, and do my bit for the country. I also have started doing a lot of charity work. I am associated with 2 NGOs now. It feels good, and I do it happily.

Another change which has come across in my thinking is to abstain from the incorrect. I do not want to do anything which would break the law, or make my life easier by giving bribe. I normally do not do anything like that, but now I also ask my friends not to do so. The thing is there is a man at the top working his ass off, trying to make our country the best, we all should support him as much as we can at our level. This time India is truly shinning.

Our hostile neighbors have been attacking us by violating rules and engaging in cross border fire. They just did that again recently, but this time the lion responded. PMO gave full authority to fire back, and that's the way it should be. It felt great, and I also thought the army would be more happy because till now it was like they were never given a complete go green to respond, they had the potential, it was all about the freedom to respond fire with fire. India has never invaded another country in it's history, but if someone does something like this, this is how we should respond...great job by the government in that aspect too!! Jai Hind!!

Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal...which is the best??

So I am a voracious online shopper. I can pretty much compare these 3 and couple other sites which I have used for online shopping. To start with, online shopping is great thing, you get lot more choices, you get best deals and you get home delivery. Not only that you can return the product if you don't like with no questions asked.

Let me directly get to the point now. Amazon is the number one e-commerce site in India for me. It offers best prices, and what makes them stand out is their awesome customer service, and after sales service. They are the ONLY site who would deliver to your home, if you have given office address and are not available in office at time of delivery. They are the ONLY site who would do full refund of your product in case of any issues, even after the return period is over (which is one month usually). I have personally experienced all of this, and always go to amazon first for any shopping. They are a giant company, they are pioneers of this concept, still they are excellent and awesome. Not money-centric at all, totally customer-centric. Kudos!!

This leads me to discussing about money-centric e-commerce sites, who don't care about anything else but money. Consider flipkart.com. They were a pretty nice site too, they were pioneers of e-commerce in India. I remember they started with books only, and I had ordered few engineering books during my study days from flipkart. But recently they have gone crazy, they had a Big Billion Sale recently, they earned 600 Crores in 10 hours. But there were hundreds and thousands of complaining users, they earned money, but they lost huge customer base. However they are not the worse yet...keep reading.

Meet Jabong.com The ultimate useless good for nothing site. They have the worst customer service. Once my cell was down, and I wanted them to contact me on my friends number for a product return. I called them 3 times, and sent 2 emails giving alternate number details. Still the order was never picked up, I am still holding a defective product, no use contacting their useless customer service as well. I wish they all rot in hell!!

I am really surprised by the growth of snapdeal.com. They are also a flipkart level site now. You can get a lotta great deals at shopclues.com too. However I would recommend always use Amazon!

The Poker Diaries

To start with, this is like my 6th post in September. Well actually it is 6th post in less than 6 days...lol. The reason behind that is my Optimus Prime is down, and I have an office laptop for a week, so utilizing it to the fullest, and quenching all my apetite for blogging! My last post was kinda milestone for me, I had done major changes in my blog layout and widgets, so that post was to maximise space utilization in the new layout. I put in around 2.5 times the pics I normally do, however I am very happy with the end result.

So life is awesome as it is. \m/ Today is Sunday, today and tomorrow is week off. I slept pretty late last night, around 04:30AM, as yesterday's post was pretty big, informative and required to put in some time, but hell I am passionate about blogging, and many of my master pieces in this blog have come after 2AM....lol

Getting to poker, I was pretty sure I had blogged about it before. So I did a quick search in the blog using the search widget on the blog. This is what I found, the blog is from 1st Jan, 2011. I read it and went down the memory lane. It was the time in Infosys Pune DC. #ItFeltGood , and that is the reaosn why I write. I was new to poker than, learning and progressing, the title of the blog post is pretty slick: Today? Four of a kind , well that is something you would expect from me, won't you! I am not very humble I know, and that is something you would expect from me too!! :)

My wonderful sister had gifted me a steel case, James Bond style poker set as my birthday gift when I was in US. I used to play a lot of poker in US, and she sensed it and got me this. I am really thankful to her for all that she has done for me, and the support and advice she has given me, every now and then...Thanks Bhaku...Love You..

Let's talk more of poker, I bought the poker set here last month. Started playing with my good amigoz Anshul a couple of times. Today was a bad day for me, I was short of sleep, and not thinking straight. I thought I had a full house, but I actually just had a set of 2 pairs. Another reason is I was playing 5 card poker with Mohitbaba yesterday, and I play Hold - em poker with Anshul, so mindset was a bit different there too. I suffered a heavy loss, I managed to survive somehow, and had something after 3 hours of poker.

I learnt a lot about human nature today. I learnt that it is something important to loose in life. Winning is important, but something losing teaches you a lot more. You rethink where you are in life, what are your priorities. I had pending work of iron man since 3 weeks, only after loosing today I competed it. I also have to study, I also need to control my spendings. I need to take care of my health, need to work out and have proper sleep. All this and more would not have come, if I had not lost today, so am grateful for what happened :)

Nexus 5 - Ultimate Gaming Collection!

I have been a gamer since childhood. By gamer I mean an avid gamer, not a pro gamer. I loved and still love playing games. It all started with Brian Lara Cricket on my cousin's computer. It was long back, they had a black and white monitor, and the computer was used only for playing that game. After that I got a computer and used to play Quake 3, and many other small flash games. I also had a sega gaming console before, playing Contra and other games, we all have done that.

I was however lucky enough to own a PS2, and I played a lot on it. Mostly NFS series, and sports like Cricket, FIFA, F1 and Lawn Tennis. I had and still do have many car and bike racing DVDs of my PS2. After that I got a Nintendo Wii from US, that was good for work out, however controls are not as smooth as you would expect, it is still a pre-mature technology. And then...Nexus 5 came in ma life!!

My last blog related to gaming on Nexus 5 was on May 1. A lot has changed since. Believe it or not, I have 26 games on my Nexus 5 currently, compared to the 9 which I had then. To start with I installed a lot of word games, I am a voracious writer, and words are my poison. I have got Wordament, Snap Attack, 5 Clues, 4 Pics 1 Word, Word Search and Vocabul Jumble to play with. This is something good, you learn along with having fun. Another terrific games I got is Quiz Up, this is amazing. You can play quiz agianst anyone in the world, as well as your friends on over 500 topics. My favorite topics are Computer Science, and Cricket. I can proudly say I have beaten the best in Computer Science from Italy and Poland, and many others which I am proud of!

Let's get to big games now. I got CSR Racing, which is an ultimate drag racing game. Similar to NFS series, you fight up against a gang, and beat the boss in the end. There are 5 gangs. You can upgrade you car, and compete in lotta other races too, to earn money for car upgrade. The music is scintillating, and game play is terrific too1

Then I got WWE SuperCard,I remember playing this in childhood, where you would have all cards with details of each wrestler like rank, chest, biceps, fights fought, figths won, etc, and you would have to win all the cards to win the game, this is just like that and really cool and addictive. I played from midnight to 4AM the day I installed it, and I am still undefeated with 36 wins!! :P

Another big game I got is FIFA 14, having played FIFA a lot on PS2, this is not new for me. Only the AI has improved a lot, and new game modes, however this is over 1 GB game so you would need space on your mobile. Real Cricket 14 is another big game I have installed today itself, I am going to check it out, but based on screen shots, and reviews it does look promising. Stick Cricket Partnerships and Tennis 3D are still there from before. I got 3D bowling too now, I tried Pool, but I am not into it much.

I have got a bunch of aircraft combat and simulator games. The best one is Rise Of Glory, it has really good dog fights and lot of missions. You start with a classic World War 1 wooden plane, controls are pretty simple and there is not much to complain about.  iFighter 1945 is a 2D but highly impressive game , really nice what they have managed to do with 2D only effects. Fly Plane - Flight teaches you how to fly a commercial jet, pretty neat, you get a feeling on how much reponsibility is there in the hands of the pilot, the landing is the toughest part I found. Space Agency is also still there from before, but I have stopped playing it, will retain it though!

Spider Man Unlimited is the last notable game I would like to write of. It is one of the best game I have on my cell currently. Amazing graphics, gameplay and story line. So loaded with all these games in a 16GB model, along with a lot of apps, I guess I am using my cell phone pretty well and to the fullest.
